Montessori Madness
This Youtube video is a *great* explanation of why parents all around the world love what Montessori does for their children.
Our students hard at work
I'm always fascinated to see the children working with the Montessori materials. It's amazing the variety of activities they can choose from, and each of those activities teaches them important things! I hope you enjoy these pictures that Miss Nicole took recently in the Preschool/Kindergarten room.
Magical Cookie Tour information
As stated at our last parent meeting, we are making 50 dozen pizzelle cookies for the Uniontown Magical Cookie Tour held December 9 at various Uniontown Businesses. Our site is Ptak’s Formal Wear. This is our first time participating in this event!
We will bake December 6, starting around 4 or 4:30 pm at the school kitchen. You are welcome to come any time. We decided to make this a working parent meeting. Thank You, in advance to anyone wishing to help or donate any items listed below. We welcome any help! If anyone is able to help sell cookies on December 9, please let Charlene Friend know. Again, thanks for your help with our community outreach project.
If you would like to donate ingredients, please let Charlene know.
Light-Up Night Parade
We would love to participate again in Uniontown's annual light-up night parade on the evening of Thursday, December 2. Older siblings are welcome, too! We had a lot of fun doing it last year, and we would love to have a nice crowd for this year, as well. Contact Tricia Patton if you think you would like to walk with the AG Montessori group in the parade. She'll give you more details on where to meet.
Halloween Fun
Here are some sweet pictures from our recent Halloween parade. If you have any others you'd like to share on the website, email them to me at ppatton2010 (at) gmail (dot) com. I'll add them to the album.
Our School
Some of you may know that we are starting a partnership with Tulibantu school near Lusaka, Zambia. As part of this partnership, our students will tell the Tulibantu students about life at AG Montessori, and they will tell us about their lives as well. From time to time, I will post some of the responses here for everyone to see.
Matthew says:
"At our school, we have an activity called corn work. You use the tweezers to twist the pieces of corn and put them in the bucket. It helps us grow strong fingers."
Parent Meeting
All parents are invited to the first parent meeting of the year on Monday, Oct. 4. The meeting will take place at the school at 6:30, and the upcoming field trip will be discussed, along with the school's first Calendar Party. Please plan to attend!Spanish lessons begin!
Last Friday both classrooms met with the Spanish teachers for the first time. Señora Patton returned and brought with her a new teacher, Flor Benites Herrera. Flor is a teacher in her homeland of Peru, where she teaches French and English to children. We are so excited to have her join us for Spanish this year!
Children in both classrooms focused on GRANDE and pequeño this week. We learned a fun song about elefantes grandes--watch the above video with your son/daughter this week to learn a little bit more!
Video
Here's a movie of some of our preschool and Kindergarten students hard at work. Enjoy!
